How long does it take to rent a car and start driving?

Renting a vehicle is a two phase process. First, we need to submit your application to our insurance company to add you to our policy. If there are no accidents or other issues, this takes about one hour. Applications submitted before 3 PM may receive an answer the same day. Second phase, once approved, is to locate and assign a vehicle. This can take one hour or it can take two business days depending on the availability of vehicles in our inventory. Our inventory is constantly influx with vehicles coming back and vehicles going out. Vehicles are rented on a first come first serve basis. Please ask your Rental Agent for an approximate time frame for availability of the vehicle you are interested in.

What are minimum age and licensing requirements to qualify for a rental vehicle?

1. Minimum age of 21. 2. Maximum age of 64. Due to our insurance company regulations, any one over the age of 64 will not be able to rent from us. 3. Driver’s License must be at least three (2) years old. 4. TLC/Hack License. A receipt is NOT acceptable. You must have the actual physical license in your possession.

How do I make payments each week on a rental vehicle?

If you are an Uber or VIA Partner, payments will be submitted directly to
Tower by Uber or VIA respectively, from your earnings. If you are affiliated with a
different base, Tower will charge the credit card on file.

What is included in the rent payment?

The rental payment includes the car, full coverage and liability insurance, Diamond, plates, registration and regular vehicle maintenance. It does NOT include EZ Pass, tickets, gas or any other expense incurred by you.

When is my payment due each week?

Due to the constraints of our internal systems, all payments on rental contracts are due on Mondays. Your next payment will typically be due on the Monday following the day you take delivery of the vehicle. The exact date will be provided to you by your Rental Agent. However, it is important to remember that you will only pay rent for the days you rent the vehicle.

Can I rent or share this car with someone else?

You are the only person insured and authorized to operate the rental vehicle. You cannot lease, share or rent this vehicle to or with a third party.

Who pays the tickets on the car?

You are responsible for the payment of all tickets, summons or citations issued to the vehicle while it is being rented. This includes, but is not limited to, parking tickets, EZ Pass violations and red light camera tickets.

Who pays the oil change and other vehicle maintenance?

Tower. Regular vehicle maintenance is provided by our repair shop located in the Bronx.

Do I have to let you know when I want to return the car?

Yes. Prior to the termination the rental contract, a 14 days in advance notice
must be provided to Tower. Click here to schedule a return.

Can I pick up street hails (Yellow or Green cub)?

Absolutely NOT. Street Hails are NOT permitted with Tower rental vehicles. All of our rental vehicle are affiliated with Uber and others similar taxi companies. You cannot pick up any street hails, violators are subject to substantial penalties from TLC.

Is there a minimum or maximum period for your cars?

No, there is no MINIMUM RENTAL TERM associated with Uber X rentals. However, our average rental term is approximately 8 to 10 weeks. For SUV’s, Black Cars and Minivans, there is a 60-day minimum rental period. Please ask your Rental Agent for the specific term requirement for the vehicle you are interested in (based on make and model year). There is no maximum term limit.

Do you provide the EZ Pass?

Yes we do. You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining your EZ Pass tag. The nearest EZ Pass office is located at 19-02 Whitestone Expressway #101 College Point, NY 11357. If you don’t have EZ Pass Tag you must to get one for $25 credit on it. You can also buy an EZ Pass tag at the cash lane of the RFK Bridge.

Is there a mileage limit?

No, there are no limits or restrictions on mileage.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You can pay with a credit card, a debit card, cash or money orders. Personal checks are not accepted.

Major violations that automatically disqualify you from being insured on our policy:

1. Speeding tickets in excess of 19 MPH over the posted limit 2. DUI’s or DWI’s 3. More than 10 points on your Driver’s License 4. Hit and Run accidents 5. More than three (3) accidents 6. Accident with a school bus 7. Speeding in a school zone 8. Hitting a pedestrian 9. Hitting a bicyclist 10. Fleeing the scene of an accident (Hit and Run)

Rental Process
  • Upon arrival to our location, you will be provided some documents to review that will outline the rental program.

  • You will then be provided with an application and a questionnaire to complete.

  • Your application will then be submitted to our insurance company. This process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour, depending on your drivers abstract.

  • If approved by the insurance company, you will meet with one of our many rental agents who will go over the rental program with you. If you wish to, and a vehicle is available, we will provide you with the necessary documents to get activated with Uber.

  • Next, you will meet with an Uber rep in our office to complete the On-Boarding process.

  • Upon completion of the On- Boarding process, we will explain the term of the Rental Contract to you. You will then sign the agreement, pay any amounts due, and drive off with the vehicle.

  • It’s that simple. You can be driving and earning money in a couple of hours.

  • Keep in mind that we have over 100 visitors a day. Please come with patience and understanding. Our goal is to provide you with not only the quickest, but also the best service possible.

  • $20 non-refundable charge for the MVR  (Motor Vehicle Record) Drivers Abstract.

  • Proof  of  Address   (Utility Bill, Bank Statement, Credit Card Bill, etc.).

  • Copy  of  a Debit/Credit Card or a Direct Deposit Letter which includes your name, account number & routing number.

  • Out  of state drivers may require additional documents (i.e. NJ requires DDC)
